With flavours that transport you straight to Bangkok, Greater Sydney has gained a brand-new and very grand Thai restaurant with one of Australia’s up-and-coming Thai chefs at the helm.
The newest venue inside West HQ in the heart of Greater Sydney, New Town Thai completely wowed WEST from the moment we stepped through the door. Headed by Runghthip ‘Tippy’ Pureprasert, the entire menu is about bringing out authentic Thai flavours with creative flair. Seated in the 180-seat dining area, guests are immersed in a colourful celebration of Thailand from the moment you enter through its colourful doors.
“I love the authenticity of the menu which includes crowd pleasers such as Crying Tiger Salad, Miang Kham, Pao Kee Mao and a personal favourite, Thai Green Curry,” says Chef Tippy.
“It is an aromatic feast, starting with the smell of fresh Kaffir lime leaves and rich green chilli paste, and when it’s stir-fried with coconut milk, you have an explosion of fragrances including galangal, lemongrass, and green chilli.”
Born in Thailand, Chef Tippy brought her love of Thai food to her cooking when working as a chef at the previous New Town Thai Street Food venue in West HQ. She was honoured to take on the role heading the kitchen team of this reinvention of the much-loved venue. Alongside her wealth of experience, Chef Tippy has brought a passion for creating dishes with balanced depth of flavour. The herbs and chilli pastes are even imported directly from Thailand, coupled with locally sourced fresh produce.
“I’m proud to create Thai cuisine using the traditional approach to perfectly combine and balance the flavours of each dish I cook, while also adding a bit of my own creativity to enhance the depth of flavour,” Tippy says.
You’ll also be blown away by the luxurious restaurant design by hospitality experts, Altis Architecture. A unique mural stands out as a celebration of Thailand with layered texture and colour that invites you to find something different each time you dine. Fall in love with the spacious areas for gathering, perfect for a long lunch, birthday celebration, date night, or big function.
It’s not often you find a genuine Thai restaurant created for entertaining such numbers – but here in Western Sydney New Town Thai has found the perfect home.
A huge venue, like no other, it’s no surprise that dining and entertainment veterans West HQ are behind this hospitality masterpiece. New Town Thai joins a suite of other premium venues that we at The WEST Journal love – we’re talking Steak & Oyster Co by Sean Connolly, CHU Restaurant by China Doll, and Pizzaperta Manfredi by Stefano Manfredi.
This is a must-visit destination right in the heart of Greater Sydney.
